Forum structure modifcation
posted by watashiwa on Apr 16 2004, 11:04 PM
The forum structure has been modified, as stated earlier. We're taking suggestions for ideas for new forums and what not.

.. Let us know!

Probably will change the site theme as well as some other junk when I can get around to it. It's Friday night and I'm lazy right now.

Change of mind..

You know, I just actually thought about something.

I asked some people in the chat room to help me figure out why I am still running this website and no one could give me a good answer.

I mean, I don't really play Ragnarok Online anymore or really have an interest in it. So, in response to that, I think I'm gunna close the site or just delete all the Ragnarok related forums on here in two weeks.

.. Sorry, everyone who that will affect. It was fun!

Sigh, you bastards.

I'm going to be getting a new server for this website.

.. The current Celeron 1.3ghz with 1GB of RAM isn't cutting it anymore!

I don't know when it's going to be put in place, but it will be soon. Haven't ordered it yet, looking at the end of this week or maybe end of next week to purchase it. Expected downtime for the forum might be a day or two when I do migrate the data over.

Just a heads up!

Where does Fantasy end?

Xerin thought I should share these real life stories, which go hand and in with your fake Ragnarok Online lives, to you.

.. The things that happen to some of these players just may happen to you.

Careful who you piss off!

Official Fansite? No thanks.

This post is basically aim'd at the users who keep asking me to submit ro-world.com as an official fan site for that stupid contest or whatever in the fuck they're having where the first place winning site gets a big box of Ragnarok related shit.

I honestly have no interest in doing so. At one point I actually did want the site on the official fan site listing and had actually started to develop and work on it again, but Christy Kay wouldn't have it due to her being a total immature high school acting bitch.

For a long time, ro-world.com had a pretty close relationship with Gravity. We communicated with them about alot of things in the community, the game, etc,. We even helped them get their Beta 1 client distributed when their official website couldn't handle the bandwidth or requests for it. They basically threw the client at us and asked for our help to get it mirrored. (I'm sure alot of you remember that.)

Anyway, things were going pretty well until Richard Yang and Jiwon Kim, the previous gamemasters, decided to leave Gravity. Christy took over and we maintained a relationship with them for awhile, but Christy seemed to be pretty influenced about everyone with what anyone was saying. Pretty much believing anything anyone said about other people without doing her own investigation. This led to a fall out between her and I due to someone, whom I still believe to this date was Luna or Rune from Ragnainfo, lying to her saying I gave out her MSN instant message ID.

So Christy decided to block me because of this, I have the e-mail with her stating this as the reason for anyone who's interested in reading it, and that was pretty much that as far as the relationship with her and I. I tried to clear things up, but she pretty much didn't care to listen.

At any rate, I didn't let it really get to me. When the applications for becoming an official fansite were put up, I began to clean up the site and start developing for it again. We put in alot of work starting with an accurate card database, the start of an accurate monster database, and lots of other things. We already had a ton of users, probably the most popular forum, and a fuckload of more content than the majority of the websites that were actually on the damn list anyway.

I submitted the application for being a fansite and got no reply. I waited for a week or two and then sent an e-mail asking what was up, to which I got no reply. I submitted it again and waited for awhile, with no reply again. Not even any reply as to why it was declined or whatever.

Later on, seeing how most of the official fansites are treated anyway, made me not really care about it. In order to become an official fansite, you apparently have to censor all of your users. If anyone says anything bad about Gravity and you fail to edit it, you can and will be kicked off the list. If any of your users says anything bad about the administrators of the website or you have a minor disagreement with Gravity regarding a certain thing, doesn't matter what it is, you get booted anyway.

I honestly don't think it's worth it. Sure you get little benefits like these from time to time, but I rather like the environment the way it is here than the way it would be if it were an official fansite.

If you guys really want ro-world.com as an official fansite, it wouldn't be the same anymore. On top of that, someone would have to teach Christy on how to act more professionally and not so much like a brat.

It's funny. I haven't really done jack shit to the database on this website for so long and yet people still come here. People still sign up.

The popularity of this website will always be extremely high and for a reason. No, it's not the forum, I don't believe. Lots of the other official and unofficial fansites have forums and they aren't nearly as popular as here. The reason I think is because ro-world.com offers something unique to the Ragnarok Online community that no other Ragnarok Online fansite or whatever could ever hope to capture. That is most likely the community and the website itself. No one could ever hope to take that away.

No matter how hard Christy or Gravity would like to see the website fail or people stop coming to it. It's not going to happen. Ever. We'll always be here.

And to Christy, Mr. Yang and Mrs. Kim were far better Gamemasters than you could ever hope to be.

BTW, I like your new pic:

ShadowRO is ENTIRELY LEGAL NOW!

That's right, you guys. Read about it here. And, if your account isn't activated shortly after signing up by the admin, well then just click this link right here to view an image of the posted content on the 13th Corps' forum!

Read about how "Shadow" of the "ShadowRO GM Team" got Gravity to sell out by purchasing the latest server software, "Freya", from them for a mere $200 for a "military private server" which really isn't going to be serving the military at all.

In fact, I doubt the software was even purchased from Gravity and that this is all some sort of big publicity stunt by Shadow. I mean, why would Gravity sell out for that cheap? I don't think Korea likes the US Military that much. Robbing themselves of thousands of dollars that could have been both made by selling the server software for what it was worth or getting those "military players" to just simply sign up for RO.

At any rate, this guide will guide you through all the neccessary steps to play on this military server.

We should all congratulate Gravity for supporting the USA's military.

Read our discussion about it, and post your comments right here in this thread. =)

Hahaha.. Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to laugh there.
